About Us

An entrepreneurial and tech-led charity, we deliver essential reading support and resources to the children who need us most. We reach children by partnering with primary schools and community groups in disadvantaged areas, alongside growing our brilliant network of volunteers, partners and supporters.

Our journey

In 2018, Bookmark sent a small group of volunteers into just three schools in Camden. Fast forward to 2024 and our brilliant volunteers have delivered over 124,505 one-to-one reading sessions to children falling behind with their reading. We’ve also delivered many high-quality books and reading resources to schools and community groups across the country.

What we do

We believe every child should have the same opportunity to discover the joy of reading and set them up for success. We partner with schools to develop whole school reading cultures and recruit and train volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support. We work with corporate partners, raise donations, promote the charity and measure the impact we have.

Our trustees

Our Board of Trustees and Advisory Boards help us to operate effectively and efficiently as a charity. They also steer and advise our work to ensure we’re delivering the best literacy support for children and the best volunteering experience, while remaining a force for good for the schools and communities we support.

We are a small but growing team who care about what we do. We love to roll up our sleeves, try new ways of doing things and support each other so that we can achieve our vision. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Safeguarding

We’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing and welfare of children and all others who come into contact with the Charity. Bookmark requires all individuals who are involved or associated with the Charity – including trustees, employees and volunteers – to share this commitment. Our Safer Recruitment Policy and Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy are central to this.
