Safeguarding
Bookmark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being and welfare of children, and all others who come into contact with the Charity.
Our approach
Bookmark requires all individuals who are involved or associated with the Charity – including trustees, employees and volunteers – to share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being and welfare of children. This is a key governance priority for the trustees of Bookmark.
Our Safeguarding Statement
We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and that the well-being and welfare of children and young people is paramount in all circumstances. At Bookmark, we’re committed to ensuring our safeguarding policies, procedures and practice reflect and comply with legislative requirements and best practice. Read our Safeguarding Statement.
Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy sets out how Bookmark implements safeguarding for children and young people with whom we come into contact within the course of our work. We are committed to providing a safe learning experience, whether conducting face-to-face or online reading programmes. This means following procedures to protect children and young people and reporting any concerns about their welfare to the appropriate individuals or authorities.
Safer Recruitment Policy
Bookmark wishes to attract the best possible applicants to paid and voluntary vacancies. The Charity is committed to safe recruitment, selection and pre-appointment vetting. This is vital to ensure a safe workforce to work with children and young people. We are also committed to being a supportive employer. Read our Safer Recruitment Policy.
Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct for adults working with children and young people aims to help us to protect from abuse and reduce the possibility of unfounded allegations being made. We expect trustees, employees, volunteers and others involved or associated with the Charity to be aware of our Code of Conduct and adhere to its principles in their approach to all children and young people.
