Bookmark Reading Charity's Rocket Pack 1: Tom Griffiths, Books Loved by Children
To support our mission to help every child to read, and our project to help to build whole school reading cultures in primary schools, we’re pleased to announce our new initiative…the Bookmark Book Rocket Pack.
Each school term, we will be asking a person from the education sector to curate a pack of books around a theme of their choice. These will then be distributed to our Silver, Gold and Platinum Partner Schools. We will also run a giveaway each term – this is for primary schools across the United Kingdom to be in with a chance of winning the new pack of books.
These packs will ensure that children participating in Bookmark reading programmes and across the school will have access to high-quality, diverse reading material.

THE FIRST PACK
We’re kicking this initiative off with a pack from Assistant Headteacher, Tom Griffiths, who you may know as @TJGriffiths on Twitter.
The first pack will be available to win in a Twitter competition in September - packs will then be distributed to the winner and our ‘Gold’ Partner Schools in January.
Tom said:
“I'm Tom, a married dad of two and Assistant Headteacher at Tidbury Green School in Solihull. I am also a book blogger for children's stories at Check 'Em Out Books and I love sharing these incredible books with the children at school.
I have been in education for 15 years and feel very passionately that children should see themselves represented in the books they encounter. I was honoured to be asked to curate this pack from Bookmark and I've selected texts from a range of writers and illustrators which have been loved by the children at Tidbury Green. These books have supported our reading for pleasure journey, and I hope they are just as popular in your settings. A lot of the fiction texts are aimed at KS1 as I know how tricky it can be to find high-quality, inspiring chapter books for early readers. I hope your children enjoy these as much as we did.”
