Philanthropy, Trusts & Foundations

Give a significant gift to Bookmark and help disadvantaged children get access to the reading support they need for a fair chance in life.

Want to change a child’s story?

Many children leave primary school with poor reading skills, which directly contributes to poor educational attainment, lower literacy in adulthood and even lower life expectancy. We exist to improve children’s literacy by promoting a reading for pleasure culture in primary schools, with a focus on supporting children in the most disadvantaged communities.

If you are hoping to make an impact on children’s education and can support us with a significant donation, we would love to speak with you.

To find out more, please contact us on: philanthropy@bookmarkreading.org and a member of our Philanthropy team will get in touch.

Bookmark combines the fundamental compassion underlying their mission to promote early literacy together with an impact-driven and data-led approach. We are proud to support Bookmark and believe strongly in the importance of ensuring all children are supported to discover the joy of reading. This has an impact that will last a lifetime, both for the children as well as for society as a whole.

Your support

Our supporters enable us to work with schools in areas of deprivation, embedding whole school reading cultures that close the literacy gap. This is through programmes such as:

We seriously need to inspire our young readers and improve their life chances. This is an almost impossible job with the horrendous, out-of-date books from the 80s that occupy our library and so I can’t wait to share the new books with the children in September. The staff and children at our school honestly can’t thank you all enough for the diverse and engaging books that you have gifted to us. I can promise you that in this school you have changed lives.

The rigour, passion, and tenacity that drive Bookmark to continually evolve – adapting to local needs whilst tackling a UK-wide issue – are some of the many reasons why my foundation has committed to ongoing support. Most importantly, they never lose sight of the joy that reading can bring, and this love is apparent in all their brilliant universe of initiatives.
