What packages do Bookmark offer?

Bookmark offers our reading programme partner schools with a range of benefits inclusive packages to choose from, based on the number of children supported with their reading each term. These packages range from Bronze to Platinum. Full details can be seen here: https://www.bookmarkreading.org/school-packages

Our Bronze package is exclusively for face-to-face schools, while Silver, Gold and Platinum packages are available to schools with online or face-to-face programmes (or both).

All Bookmark partner schools receive up to 200 copies of our termly magazine The Story Corner”. The magazine is designed for and distributed to children who may not have a book at home to prevent learning loss outside school settings.

Schools are also sent our Rocket Packs, a termly pack of high-quality and diverse books. Each of these packs is centered on a different theme, focusing on the type of books we know are often missing from school libraries (i.e. graphic novels, poetry, non-fiction). We invite a different figure or organisation, well known in the education or literacy space, to curate these book packs. These Rocket Packs are sent out with our own scrapbooks as part of a whole school reading challenge to help with embedding a rich reading culture.

We run webinars, distribute videos and provide other resources to help with teacher training. In addition, schools who opt for a Gold or Platinum package are given CPD grants and access to memberships with third-party organisations to assist them with embedding a whole school reading culture in their school.

We have book clubs available to Platinum schools to engage reluctant readers. Schools are provided with mini libraries’ in each genre, plus additional resources to spark a reading buzz’. A plan is provided for 10 book club sessions so that teachers have a clear understanding of the outcome for each session.

Please note our community of volunteers is critical to the delivery of one-to-one reading support. When a school cancels, the volunteer’s opportunity to help improve children’s literacy is lost. It also negatively impacts on the volunteer experience which means that volunteers may cease to offer support. It is therefore important to keep school cancellations to a minimum. Bookmark will not provide package benefits to those schools that cancel more than 20% of booked reading sessions.

If you have any questions regarding school packages or the benefits associated with them, please email school@bookmarkreading.org.
