Celebrating our runners at the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025
On Sunday 4th, we proudly cheered on an amazing group of runners, who took on the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon, to raise vital funds to support our literacy programmes!
16 fantastic runners, made up of Bookmark supporters and representatives from our corporate partners: Literacy Capital plc, OakNorth, Inflexion, Barratt, PAI and Barings, came together to take part in the run and make a difference.
A total of £5,851 has been raised so far, which is an incredible achievement, and a testament to our runners” hard work and perseverance!
These funds will help us provide one-to-one reading support to children who are at risk of falling behind and deliver much-needed reading resources to foster whole-school reading cultures in disadvantaged communities, where the need is the greatest.
The run was incredible, so inspiring to be running amongst so many others for so many different charities! The support was strongly felt during the run and helped me get to a much faster time than expected!

Volunteer spotlight: Gabby’s inspiring run
We spoke with Gabby, a Bookmark volunteer who was eager to participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on behalf of Bookmark. Gabby was motivated to raise funds for our programmes, having learnt about the impact of our work. She said: “I wanted to ensure that more children could experience the joys of reading that had shaped my own life”.
Gabby recalled the event being “electric, charged with camaraderie and the shared mission of raising funds for various charities”, and after weeks of training and raising money for our programmes, she said that “crossing the finish line felt surreal”.
Since the event, Gabby has become a reading volunteer and has embarked on a journey to “help children explore the endless worlds that books offer”. Reflecting on the day, she said that “this experience wasn’t just a race; it was a catalyst for connection and purpose”.
