  • Published: 04/09/2023

Bookmark Reading Charity has appointed Emily Jack as its new CEO.

Emily Jack has been a pivotal part of the senior leadership team at Bookmark for the past 18 months in her role as Head of Schools. In this role, Emily has developed exciting and impactful new service lines for the Charity, embedded a clear strategy to ensure the Charity reaches the schools and children most in need, and played a key role in the digital transformation project that will see Bookmark continue to expand its programmes in the years ahead.

Emily is a qualified teacher with a wealth of leadership experience, and a passion for education. Prior to joining Bookmark, Emily founded Kings Tutors which was sold to Ivy Education in December 2021. Under Emily’s leadership, Kings Tutors was voted the best company for graduates to work for in the Charity, Education and Public Services” sector at the JobCrowd Awards 2016/17 as well as being a finalist in the 2021 Education Investor Awards for the Private Tutoring Provider” category. She was appointed as a director of the Tutor’s Association from May 2019 to October 2021, an industry led initiative which seeks to promote best practice in tutoring.

I am very excited about this wonderful opportunity as I have loved my time at Bookmark to date. With the support of our Chair, Board of Trustees, Bookmark team and brilliant network of supporters, I look forward to leading the team to implement our plans for future growth; building on our solid foundations to increase the depth and reach of our services, our impact and, most importantly, the number of children supported. Bookmark’s mission is very close to my heart - all children must be enabled to experience the joy of reading to have a fairer start in life
