Fancy a Bookmark Brunch?

We’re excited that Bookmark is an official partner of The Big Help Out, taking place from Friday 7 June to Sunday 9 June 2024. We’ve got a whole host of activities planned for volunteers, old and new to get involved during the big weekend.

One of our Big Help Out 2024 activities is the Bookmark Brunch. This is a fantastic opportunity for current and former Bookmark volunteers to host a gathering, and share the amazing experience of helping a child discover the joy of reading.

What is a Bookmark Brunch?

We’re inviting volunteers, past and present, to consider hosting a brunch event to share their experiences of supporting children with their reading skills, and to spread the word of the charity.

Your Bookmark Brunch can be as big or as small as you like. It could be a few pastries shared in the kitchen with your colleagues, a full spread with your nearest and dearest, or even fancy dress (who’ll be dressing up as The Gruffalo?)!

The aim is simply to spread the word about volunteering opportunities with Bookmark, all while having a good time and some lovely food.

To support you with your hosting duties, we’ll send you some goodies to help make your event a proper Bookmark occasion!

When to host a Bookmark Brunch

Ideally, you’ll host your Bookmark Brunch on any day across the weekend of Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June 2024, however if you need to run it just before or after, that’s okay too.

Why host a Bookmark Brunch?

Demand for Bookmark reading support continues to grow, and we can only help the children that need us most through the generous time and support of volunteers. 

By hosting a Bookmark Brunch you have the opportunity to share your volunteering story, and hopefully encourage attendees to consider joining our fantastic volunteer community.

It is a wonderful chance to catch up with your family, friends, colleagues, and local community whilst sharing the importance of children’s literacy and how being a reading volunteer works.

Behind the scenes we’ve been busy creating a handy host pack, full of everything you’ll need to make your event a success. These are available now for you to order.

Inside your Bookmark Brunch pack you’ll find a postcard for attendees to complete. We encourage you to get creative and share your pictures of the completed postcards, and hopefully some big smiles too 📸
