Our 2022/23 Impact Report is here!

  • Published: 01/08/2023

We are pleased to share the Bookmark Impact Report 2022/23; a reflection of our achievements and progress over the last academic year. We are delighted that we have been able to increase our support for schools during the increasingly challenging cost-of-living crisis and, despite a sector-wide volunteering shortage, we have seen record growth.

We have supported more children than ever before, delivered our highest number of reading sessions and introduced new initiatives to deepen our impact, particularly in areas of high deprivation and literacy need.

WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU

We are so proud of everything we have been able to accomplish. This is a testament to our incredible supporters, volunteers, schools and partners. You have been paramount to Bookmark’s success and we are so grateful for your belief in our mission. We are so excited to continue working with you to provide more children with the reading support and resources they need to ignite the joy of reading and become more confident and skilled readers.

I would say this is the BEST reading programme we have ever participated in. It allows the valuable 1:1 time to read, which staff in schools struggle to find in school. The volunteers are amazing, and the children truly love their sessions.” — Teacher at a Bookmark partner school

THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR IS NOW WELL UNDERWAY

We are making amazing progress with highlights from the Autumn Term below:

  • 15,802 reading sessions delivered a 36% increase from last year’s autumn term.
  • 856 children have been supported with at least one Bookmark reading programme.
  • 162,557 reading resources delivered – this includes books and our eighth issue of The Story Corner Magazine!

ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR HELPING US CHANGE CHILDREN’S LIFE STORIES

It has been wonderful to see how eager the children are to engage in the programme and how well they participate. They are all absorbed for the full session, picking and choosing books and talking about their reading. The best part is their smiles!
