Why are we there?
Bookmark aimed to help primary schools across Nottingham to develop a whole school reading culture, encouraging reading for pleasure, and helping to tackle the number of children leaving primary school unable to read well.
What did we do?
Bookmark’s Your Story Corner packs offer schools the opportunity to develop a whole school reading culture and embed reading for pleasure into the lives of their pupils. Nottingham schools received over 200 books, per pack, with their Your Story Corner delivery.

What was our impact?
The reading spaces in the area improved, offering more options and a wider variety of books.
There was a 9% increase in children saying they used the school reading space in the past week.
Thanks to support from Bookmark, 94% of teachers were motivated to improve their school’s reading activities, reading spaces, or the overall reading culture in their school.

All my children have loved engaging in age-appropriate books and the enthusiasm and enjoyment is still going strong. The book corner books sent were lovely quality and an amazing, diverse range. One Sikh boy commented ‘That character on the front cover is wearing a turban and looks like me.’ The books have filled our classroom book corner shelves, are used every day by the children and have had a huge impact on reading within my class. There is something for every ability level.
I would just like to say a very big THANK YOU for all the wonderful books we received at our school yesterday. They are beautiful and we are absolutely delighted and very grateful.
