Help a child discover a new favourite story
This World Book Day, you can do more than celebrate – you can inspire. Join us in spreading the joy of reading and empower a child to dream bigger.
Become a reading volunteer and help a child who is struggling to read, unlock a world of possibilities.

It’s World Book Day!
World Book Day celebrates the magic of stories and imagination.
Yet, one in four children in England leave primary school unable to read well, with children in disadvantaged communities most at risk — impacting their future jobs, mental health, and even life expectancy.
By fostering a love of reading, we can change their story.
As a reading volunteer, you’ll share stories and play games with a child aged 5 – 11 who needs support. Just one hour a week (online or face-to-face) can boost their confidence, help them catch up, and set them up for success in school and beyond.
