We want every child to discover the joy of reading. The Your Story Corner Programme supports schools to make this happen.
About Your Story Corner
Our Your Story Corner Programme offers schools in specific areas the opportunity to develop a whole school reading culture and embed reading for pleasure into the lives of their pupils.
Your Story Corner packs
The Your Story Corner packs are each worth over £2,000 and are full of high-quality, diverse books and resources. They include:
- 200 new, high-quality books suitable for children aged 4 – 10
- Exclusive access to Reading for Pleasure training, CPD and more
- Annual subscription to Bookmark’s children’s magazine, The Story Corner
- Posters, postcards, worksheets and a certificate to help encourage reading for pleasure
- The chance to win additional resources through the ‘Your Story Corner’ competition
- Support and inspiration for ‘book chat’ to create a whole school reading culture

How to apply
Applications for Derbyshire are now closed. Applications for schools in Rochdale open January 6th.
Which schools are eligible?
Our eligibility criteria have been set to ensure we support the schools who are in most need of support – these are schools that have Pupil Premium and Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index figures higher than the national average as well as their Key Stage 2 reading level being below the national average. If you are unsure whether your school meets this eligibility criteria, please get in touch by emailing school@bookmarkreading.org and we will be happy to help.
Volunteer-led reading programme
Our volunteer-led reading programme offers one-to-one reading sessions for children who are at risk of not meeting the expected standard for reading. You can book face-to-face or online reading programmes with our trained volunteers to support the children who need us most.

Bookmark’s Reading Programme offers one-to-one reading sessions with trained volunteers, to support children who are at risk of falling behind.
