How to apply

Applications for Derbyshire are now closed. Applications for schools in Rochdale open January 6th.

Which schools are eligible?

Our eligibility criteria have been set to ensure we support the schools who are in most need of support – these are schools that have Pupil Premium and Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index figures higher than the national average as well as their Key Stage 2 reading level being below the national average. If you are unsure whether your school meets this eligibility criteria, please get in touch by emailing school@bookmarkreading.org and we will be happy to help.

Volunteer-led reading programme

Our volunteer-led reading programme offers one-to-one reading sessions for children who are at risk of not meeting the expected standard for reading. You can book face-to-face or online reading programmes with our trained volunteers to support the children who need us most.

All my children have loved engaging in age-appropriate books and the enthusiasm and enjoyment is still going strong. The book corner books sent were lovely quality and an amazing, diverse range. One Sikh boy commented ‘that character on the front cover is wearing a turban and looks like me.’ The books have filled our classroom book corner shelves, are used every day by the children and have had a huge impact on reading within my class. There is something for every ability level.
